Aprilia Tuareg 660 Review
Aprilia Tuareg 660 is one of the recent additions to Aprilia’s fleet.
Aprilia launched this particular machine back in 2021, but the sale started the following year.
For some people, it’s a sports touring bike, for some, it’s an off-road and adventure bike, and for others, it is a naked touring bike too.
Everything about the Aprilia Tuareg 660 is true because it’s an all-in-one motorcycle.
You can have it for daily commutes, high-speed cruising, or tours on the highways, paved roads, or anywhere you want to ride.
The bike features impressive terms on almost every factor.
Since we had hands-on experience on this motorcycle and after spending 184 riding hours on this motorcycle, our verdict will surely help you out in decision-making.
This review is based on our trial and experience with this machine.
It is a middleweight adventure bike and this bike got into the United States back in February 2022.
So, in almost 2 years of being here in the US market, the Aprilia Tuareg 660 has earned a reputation and got cleared for both sides of the picture.

2. Engine And Design
Aprilia motorcycles are made in Italy and Italians are the people of class.
The same classiness is shown in almost all Aprilia and other Italian bike brands, including Ducati.
The Aprilia Tuareg 660 is also not an exception.
This motorcycle features the true meaning of an adventure motorcycle.
It has got a nice and bulky look optimized both for off-road and on-road tours.
Aprilia markets the Tuareg 660 in multiple colors in Gold, Black, and Tagelmust sort of dual tone colors.
All colors look fabulous, but we liked the Tagelmust the most since we had that variant for trial.
Tuareg has a classy but minimal headlight design that uses LEDs.
The headlight keeps running and looks pretty amazing all the time.
The same goes for its indicators and taillight as well.
The build quality is durable to most extent, but some parts are not pretty decent.
The plastic components are not doing well.
Crash guards and mudguards are good, but the engine protector is a must-replacement since it’s not high quality.
There’s been so much talk about its design and appearance, but let’s get into its engine, which matters the most.
Aprilia Tuareg 660 contains a magnificent baby for its engine, built on a parallel twin model and four-stroke motor.
This motorcycle is optimized for all-terrain rides but mostly for handling off-road adventures.
For that, Aprilia equips its engine with endless power and unlimited or high RPM torque to cater to your needs.
This particular machine has around 80 HP power in its engine, enough to boost your rides.
Yet, it’s filled with enormous power and all kinds of stuff, it is also known to stall too.
In fact, we had this motorcycle stall around 3 times in a row when we were off-roading in the woods.
3. Braking And Suspension
Tuareg 660 comes equipped with stock ABS braking to assist you well in the rides. These brakes are enormously powerful and effective so you don’t miss any safety checks while you are riding.
Aprilia is using Brembo brakes in the Tuareg 660 which is superior in terms of reliability of braking components and performance is effective too.
On its front wheel, you will get a Brembo setup in dual-piston calipers and dual disk brakes setup which is 300mm in size. Yes, this setup is on the front.
Now, coming to its rear braking setup, this one is comparatively more durable, effective, and performing.
Aprilia uses a magnificent 260mm disc on its Brembo setup which is a single piston, not double.
Considering this, the braking combination is top-class and overall it’s an efficient mechanism.
No matter if you are doing off-road, or you go on cross-continental or very long touring rides, the braking works great irrespective of terrain or environmental conditions.
Also, it’s easier to clean, easy to maintain, and easy to repair as well.
You don’t need to break anything else just for its replacement.
If you maintain these brakes, they can last over 10,000 miles or a couple of years if you calibrate and regulate them regularly.
Now, coming towards suspension setup, the suspension is again top-notch and almost similar to what we can expect in a quality adventure motorcycle.
Aprilia uses an impressive suspension setup on its front.
The forks are designed amazingly and it’s a 48mm setup using high-quality oil, rings, seals, and other components in it.
Since you are expecting it for off-roading, this suspension thing can last pretty long and work greatly.
However, if you are considering an extreme kind of off-road with a lot of bounce on the way, this thing might not work miraculously in there.
The adjustability is fine enough and it’s easy to adjust for its monoshock.
If you want to get the best out of it, you should adjust the mono-shock as per your weight, the terrain to ride, and the luggage on your back.
4. Transmission And Comfort
Tuareg 660 knows that it’s a tough guy and Aprilia made for tough jobs.
For that purpose, the engine which is integrated is top-notch and comes packed with endless power.
However, a powerful engine with unoptimized or poor transmission is just useless or not a fine thing.
Keeping that in mind, the Aprilia equips those magnificent motorcycles with a tremendous kind of transmission system.
The transmission is capable of handling all kinds of on and off-road riding journeys.
This engine comes with an unstoppable transmission since it contains a 6-speed gear setup with nicely cut gears to optimize both its power delivery and throttle response.
These motorcycles feature a great build quality for transmission components too.
Considering that, the transmission setup is capable of lasting for 50,000 miles and more.
At the time of launch, the Tuareg 660 didn’t have quick shifters but it’s now available on it.
So, if you are freaking or in a competitive race, these shifters can make your life pretty easier.
Even though quick shifters are just worth a couple of hundred dollars, they can make a difference of several thousand dollars on the ground level.
The gears and sprockets are good too and capable of handling things better.
These motorcycles use quality clutch setup, but this clutch is cable-operated, not a hydraulic thing.
You might need to put your efforts into its clutch cable, but it’s only the case if you are solely relying on manual transmission.
If you use the quick shifters, the clutch or its components won’t be a problem.
5. Rideability And Convenience
Tuareg 660 as an off-road and adventure motorcycle, features good rideability.
The placement of quick shifters, and integration of a wide and tall windscreen on its front improves its rideability and takes it to the next level.
The seating is very nice and comfortable and the overall weight is pretty balanced for any kind of rider.
It has a seat height of 34 inches, which is on the taller side of the category.
The motorcycle is maneuverable weight and design-wise, you can do sharp cuts and corners on the highways and streets. The exhaust is pretty convenient and nicely optimized.
It has all the crash guards and additional protective gear to make your riding experience better.
These motorcycles are equipped with side mirrors too, and they are optimized heavily.
The engine is pretty much vibration-free and offers four riding modes.
These modes are urban, explore, off-road, and individual.
Every mode has its own characteristics and benefits which you can’t get on the other mode.
The handles are also protected, but the build quality of its plastic is not top-notch.
These protections may break in the first place when you fall during your endeavor.
Before buying must read Aprilia Tuareg 660 problems.
Is the Aprilia Tuareg 660 Reliable And Worth it?
Aprilia Tuareg 660 is a reliable and trustworthy adventure motorcycle for your off-roading and cruising needs.
The motorcycle is optimized for its weight and has a better build quality than others in this league.
Tuareg 660 has a better weight-to-handling ratio and its more than 55 MPG figure is amazing on the roads.
Comfort is great too, and the overall riding experience is powerful, making it reliable.
